about me & my therapeutic philosophy

hello again!

I wanted to share more about my educational and professional background! I graduated with my bachelors of science in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from the College of Charleston, and received my Masters of Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have almost 15 years of experience in the mental health field, working both with clients and in research, and nearly a decade of experience working with clients who have eating disorders from the outpatient level of care to residential.

While I have extensive experience working with clients who have eating disorders and negative body image, I also have years of experience helping those with ADHD, depression, anxiety, challenges in their faith or spirituality, life transitions, and people living with chronic illnesses.

my take on the work

I wholeheartedly believe that the work I do with clients is collaborative. While I may bring my education and professional experience into sessions, you are the expert of you and your own experience. We are a team with a common goal and it is incredibly important to me that all clients feel this way throughout our time together.

I practice with an anti-racist, fat-positive, Health At Every Size, queer affirming, and neurodivergent affirming lens. I believe that therapy should be a place where you can truly be yourself, as well as learn more about who you are in a non-judgemental space.

I consider my clinical approach to be eclectic and I know there is not a one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach. I welcome feedback from anyone I work with and encourage you to let me know if a certain style or approach doesn’t feel like a good fit and we can work together to find something different. Your well-being is my priority! Your therapy experience should be unique to you and your needs.
